Spanish Sonatas - Stephen Marchionda

A top prize winner in several international competitions, Stephen Marchionda is a graduate of Yale University. In 1991 he was affiliated to the Royal Academy of Music in London where he studied with Julian Bream, Leo Brouwer, John Mills, and John Williams. Teachers in the States include John Holmquist, Ricardo Iznaola and Benjamin Verdery.

Stephen Marchionda performs regularly throughout the United States appearing at numerous university and performing for festivals including the Aspen Music Festival. He has also been invited to perform at the Cleveland and British Museums of Art, the Houston Fine Arts Center and the University of Texas.

Concerts in Europe have taken him to Naples, Rome, Madrid, Granada and Athens. Concert appearances in the UK range from Cornwall to London to Scotland and include recital performances for universities, conservatories, art centres, music societies and guitar centres.


Education

In 1991 Stephen Marchionda was affiliated to the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. Whilst there he studied both with John Williams and Juilian Bream. Marchionda also holds a Master's Degree of Music Performance from Yale University, where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. Previous teachers are John Holmquist at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Ricardo Iznaola at the University of Denver.

Marchionda has performed in Master classes with many distinguished artists, including Leo Brouwer, Yo Yo Ma and Aldo Parisot. Marchionda has also studied at the Aspen Music Festival.
