While coming back from Wichita on Sunday, September 15, Jim Davis and Biff Hess are in a hurry. The railroad crossing gate goes down and the red lights flash but no train is in sight, so they go on through the gates and head for home. Jim thinks he sees a policemobile in the rear view mirror so he heads for home at a brisk pace. When he gets to highway 160 west of Winfield, he politely waites for a funeral procession to pass before he proceedes. Unfortunately he had seen a police car and it is now behind him with the lights on. So much for politeness. See below.

In Police Court
Recent disposition of traffic cases in Winfield police court include the following:
James Edwin Davis, Winfield, fined $10 for driving 85 miles an hour, 10 miles above the legal daylight limit and $10 for failing to stop at the railroad crossing in Udall when the gates were down and the red light on. Costs of $11.40 assessed.
