I am originally from Arkansas City, KS and raised in Silverdale township. My father's name is Gary Goatley and currently works at the Born Stone Company in Silverdale (the only business left). My grandfather(Ben Goatley) was raised in Silverdale and stills lives there today, he was a very successful stone mason and worked on many homes and buildings around the Silverdale area. I also have several aunts, uncles and cousins that still reside in the Silverdale area. Recently my father and I were discussing the history of Silverdale and back in the day when it was a town with a post office, bank, railroad, etc. We began to search the internet for photos of Silverdale when it was 'booming'. We haven't had much luck so far and are hoping more people can contribute to the history of this township that so many over the years have called home.

Hi Bill
I showed the webpage to my grandfather and he said the picture was taken
facing east and the stone building on the right is the bank. I also found
out the Missouri Pacific Railroad was the one that ran through Silverdale
from Dexter. I emailed Mr. Hedrick and am hoping to get some good information
from him. Thanks for all your help!
